Which concepts from Te Ao Maori should we focus on in the new NZCALNE (Voc)…?
Please Vote Here’s another thing that I’d like some feedback on. In the new NZCALNE qualification, we have some flexibility over which concepts and approaches from learner-centred adult teaching. The range statement in the new unit standard is listed above in the poll. If you think they’re all equally important, then tick them all. Otherwise,…

Which frameworks from Te Ao Maori work best for adult literacy and numeracy?
Please Vote The new NZCALNE qualification allows for a more explicit focus on the different frameworks that should underpin our teaching. This includes frameworks from a Maori worldview perspective. One of the easiest Maori frameworks to communicate is Mason Durie’s Te Whare Tapawha framework. This got removed from the previous update to US21204, but we…

The new unit standards…

This is an appeal…! Do you have spare printed copies of this book? This is the Learning Progressions for Adult Numeracy. If you have spare hard copies that are unused… just lying around propping up a desk, for example… we’d like to use them. I know I can access the PDFs… just looking for any…

But it’s particularly relevant if we think about education. Negatively held beliefs about literacy, numeracy, and anything to do with education are very difficult to shift. Much easier if you can get to people before their beliefs become entrenched and fossilised. Much easier if you can…

Here’s another gem from Damon’s Math Blog and Youtube channel. Key take away for me: Numeracy needs to be embedded into tasks. Not sure what that means? Watch the video and head along…
