  1. a squared – ab = 0 so both 2(0) and 1(0) = 0! Not 2=1 as the x0 has been omitted.

    …..and i understood none of either, therefore, what i have always thought or known all along, is that i am as “mathematically challenged” as a 5 year old.
    Perhaps i am in need of your classes…!

    1. ha ha… Perhaps. Susan has an iPad app that teaches algebra called DragonBox. It’s pretty cool.

  3. But no. You just cancelled out the zeroes the end.
    2(a^2-ab) does equal 1(a^2-ab)
    We can agree 2(a^2-ab) = 2(0)
    And that 1(a^2-ab) = 1(0)
    But you can’t just cancel out the zeros.
    It is 2 x 0 and 1x 0 which is 0=0, not 2=1
