The enduring value of this post is not the platform-specific checklist. It is the practical pattern underneath it: package a useful idea, make it easy to access, and test whether people value it enough to act.
The Pattern Underneath
- Create something original that solves a small problem.
- Package it clearly as a PDF, template, short guide, or other digital resource.
- Write a plain-language product description that explains who it is for and what it helps them do.
- Set a simple price or make it pay-what-you-want.
- Publish it somewhere people can access it without friction.
- Share it with the audience most likely to care.
What Has Probably Changed
Platform workflows, payment rules, fees, tax settings, file handling, account requirements, and product-page conventions can change. Treat any older Gumroad-specific process advice as a snapshot of how I was working in 2020, not as a current operating manual.
