Most of my career has been in education, but in recent times I’ve become increasingly aware of the need to diversify what Dilbert Creator, Scott Adams, calls my “skill stack”.
For me this has included taking a fresh look at some of my interests and hobbies including leatherwork (a new hobby) and music (an old hobby).
This has also been important for my mental health.
In fact, I think I would have gone bonkers a few years back if I didn’t have some kind of creative outlet.
Added to all of that is the fact that, in the past year, I’ve made a lot of new friends through Twitter.
Both are men I have tremendous respect for. Check out the podcast episode above… we had a blast.
If you want more:
- I have an hour long talk on craft and craftsmanship which is streaming for free as part of the AionCon 2020 online conference. Details are here and here.
- I have an eBook out that expands on all of this and more which you can get here for $10 off the cover price.
- Hunter has an excellent YouTube channel focusing on men, masculinity and marriage here or you can find all of his links here.
- Nathan has a terrific blog here which I did a guest post for on creativity or you can find all of his links here.
And don’t underestimate the need for hobbies.
I know I did for a long time.
